Mine Exploration

North Wales has a long history of mining and close to the Centre there are a number of old slate mines which we can explore by torch light. The mines remain pretty much as they were when they were deserted. Corridor sized tunnels lead between vast chambers creating an underground maze. The old workings are still clearly visible with the occasional abandoned tools lying about. Your journey will progress through the mine, steadily climbing upwards until you arrive back at the surface in a completely different location.

The mines used are not set up for tourists and may involve the use of safety ropes. They are inspected by a Government approved mining engineer and the routes will have been passed as being suitable for groups being led by a trained and qualified Mine Leader.
