Gorge Walking

A gorge is formed by a fast flowing stream cutting a deep channel through the hillside. They often contain spectacular waterfalls and rapids. Gorge walking (or more accurately gorge scrambling) involves traveling along this stream bed negotiating the natural obstacles found on the way. You can travel up or downstream usually wading through the pools, scrambling over the rocks or sliding down chutes of water.

Some gorges have plunge pools to jump into.

Whether you take a wet route or stay dry this is one of our most popular and rewarding activities, an experience everyone is sure to remember.
